There is no universal interval
You will see fixed schedules quoted widely across the industry. They are convenient for the cleaner rather than accurate for the customer. Two arrays a mile apart can need completely different treatment: one under a line of trees with birds roosting above it, the other on an exposed roof with nothing overhead and a decent pitch.
The sensible measure is observed behaviour. If soiling is clearly visible again within months of a clean, a planned interval is worth having. If the array still looks fine a year later, it does not.
What drives how quickly panels soil
A handful of factors do most of the work. Overhanging or nearby trees bring leaves, sap, pollen and shade that keeps moisture on the glass. Roosting and perching positions above the array bring bird mess. A shallow panel pitch holds water and contamination for longer, while a steeper pitch sheds both. Proximity to busy roads, the M1 corridor, service yards, construction activity or agricultural land adds a heavier film than a quiet residential plot.
Local ground conditions matter as well. Panels close to open farmland on the edges of the city can pick up seasonal dust and residue at particular times of year, while an urban roof in Central Milton Keynes is more likely to see general traffic grime.

Regular cleaning for homes
For most Milton Keynes homes a repeat arrangement only makes sense where there is a clear driver, usually trees or birds. Where that driver exists, a planned visit avoids the situation where mess is left long enough to bake on hard, which makes each clean slower and more difficult than it needs to be.
A practical approach is to have the first clean carried out, then decide. You will know within a season or two how quickly your array returns to a soiled state, and that observation is more useful than any schedule set in advance.
Scheduled cleaning for commercial sites
Commercial arrays are more often suited to a schedule, partly because the surface area is larger and partly because facilities teams need predictable, budgeted work. Scheduled visits can be aligned with other planned maintenance, arranged around shift patterns or school holidays, and phased across a large roof rather than attempted in one visit.
Where access equipment is required, planning ahead also reduces cost, because equipment hire and site arrangements can be organised once for a known date rather than at short notice. Site safety documentation and permits are easier to handle for a scheduled visit too.
Deciding honestly
Regular cleaning is a service, not an obligation, and cleaning removes surface contamination rather than guaranteeing any particular generation result. If your array does not soil quickly, a repeat arrangement is not something we will push.
Tell us the postcode, the approximate number of panels, what surrounds the property and what you can currently see on the glass. If a planned interval genuinely fits your site, we will suggest one and explain why. If a single visit is all that is needed, that is what you will be quoted for.
